SUMMARY  
Under the guidance of the Marketing Manager, the Coordinator of Digital Marketing plays a key role in executing digital marketing strategies to drive audience engagement, attendance growth, and Shedd Aquarium’s overall visibility. This role focuses on managing campaigns across digital channels, including website, email, and paid media, while optimizing performance metrics. The Coordinator works closely with the Coordinator, Audience Analytics & Operations, leveraging insights to inform digital channel strategies and ensuring clear role differentiation between data analysis and channel execution.

Digital Media Management (20%) 

  • Campaign Execution: Collaborate with Shedd’s digital media agency to implement and optimize search, programmatic, and paid social media campaigns. 
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics, such as ROI, traffic, engagement, and conversions, and implement optimization strategies. 
  • SEO/SEM Support: Partner with external vendors and internal teams to support SEO/SEM initiatives. 

Email Marketing (50%) 

  • Campaign Development: Assist in creating and deploying email campaigns targeting membership, lead generation, general audiences, visitors, and post-visit engagement, ensuring alignment with Shedd’s brand voice and goals.  
  • Performance Metrics: Track and report on email performance (e.g., open rates, click-through rates, conversions) and recommend improvements. 

Website Maintenance and CX (20%) 

  • Content Management: Manage updates to Shedd’s website, ensuring content is accurate and user-friendly. Assist with technical integration of content, including content management system (CMS). Adding lightboxes using Wisepops.  
  • Analytics Monitoring: Track website performance to assess traffic sources and user behavior to identify optimization opportunities. 

Future State Work (10%)  

  • Emerging Channels: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for new digital channels, such as SMS and mobile, in alignment with Shedd’s goals. 
  • AI and Automation: Partner with internal teams to explore the use of artificial intelligence and marketing automation tools to enhance campaign efficiency and personalization. 
  • Collaborative Innovation: Work closely with the Technology, Design, and Brand and Content teams to assess and integrate new tools, platforms, and technologies that improve audience engagement and digital workflows. 

Collaboration and Coordination (Ongoing) 

  • Team Partnerships: Collaborate with Marketing Manager and the Coordinator, Audience Analytics & Operations, to align audience insights and integrate data into digital strategies. 
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Partner with the Brand and Content team to ensure cohesive messaging across digital channels. Help manage timelines, deliverables, and resources for various marketing projects. Ensure all tasks are on schedule and assist with communication across teams or vendors. Collaborate with teams across the organization on digital marketing efforts.   
  • Events: Provide support for External Affairs and Marketing owned events, including coordination and staffing support. 
  • Administrative Support: Maintain digital marketing calendars, assist with budget tracking, and support campaign reporting. 
  • Mission Commitment: Embody Shedd’s vision, mission, and values in all activities. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. 

Minimum Experience  

  • 1–3 years of experience in digital marketing; experience in cultural or tourism organizations is a plus. 
  • Meticulous and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners to drive results. 

Preferred Experience 

  • Proficiency in digital advertising (Google Ads, Meta, PPC platforms, etc.) and email marketing platforms; Experience with e-commerce platforms. 
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices, GA4 proficiency, website content management systems (CMS). 
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using tools like Google Analytics, familiarity with dashboard tools like Tableau or Sisense. 

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media platforms, Email marketing tools. 
  • Experience with digital project management tools (Jira preferred)   
  • Experience with SEO tools like Google Search Console, SEMrush, etc.  
  • Knowledge of tools like Tessitura, Salesforce, Hubspot.  

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English fluently. 
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions given from written and oral sources. 
  • Ability to write professional business correspondence.  
  • Ability to effectively present information to and collaborate with all levels of employees. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to understand and employ intermediate level accounting mathematics. 
    Ability to understand basic mathematical relationships and formulas
