Internship: Digital Marketing

Internship Overview: 
The intern will gain a solid grounding in the marketing skills needed to understand and navigate website management, SEO content strategy and analytics used to measure success for a non-profit organization. The intern will be involved in building pages for Shedd’s virtual programs promoting Shedd’s programs, events, animals and education opportunities online.  

Learning Objectives: 
  • Develop website skills by building at least 3 website pages independently 
  • Update 10 landing pages with SEO keywords 
  • Help maintain website intake process and manage internal clients weekly 
Responsibilities & Projects:
  • Demonstrate commitment to Shedd’s vision, mission and values  
  • Assist in planning, writing and scheduling content on Shedd’s website  
  • Assist in developing SEO (descriptions and long-tail keywords) across Shedd’s website  
  • Assist in keeping the website up to date  
  • Assist with pulling raw data  
  • Other projects as assigned  
Qualifications:  
Fields of Interest: Majoring in marketing, advertising, journalism, or other communication field . Passion and interest for marketing 

Skills/Characteristics:
  • Possess excellent editing skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent time-management skills, a passion for digital engagement, and computer proficiency. 
  • Think critically, creatively, be a self-starter, have a passion for digital engagement and possess excellent time-management skills. 
  • Ability to work and be productive independently. 
  • Have a high school diploma or GED. 
Technology Requirements:
  • Devices that allow for video conferencing and internet access  
  • Reliable internet connection  
  • Devices that allow VPN access 
Time Commitment:
  • Approximately 24 per week  
  • Minimum of 3 months  
  • Preferred availability: Monday through Wednesday
  • Set schedule based on intern availability.
