Internship Overview:
The intern will gain a solid grounding in their marketing skills needed to understand and navigate brand guidelines, promotional copy and content creation and social content strategy for a non-profit organization. The intern will be involved in promoting Shedd’s programs, events, animals and education opportunities online.

Learning Objectives:
  • Develop content for 3 TikToks during before ending internship
  • Acquire content marketing skills by supporting filming on at least 3 prerecorded Facebook Live during internship
  • Develop analytics skills by pulling and reporting on Facebook Live metrics
Responsibilities & Projects:
  • Demonstrate commitment to Shedd’s vision, mission and values
  • Monitor and interact with external audiences through the aquarium’s social media channels and travel-review sites
  • Assist in planning, writing and scheduling posts on Shedd’s TikTok channel
  • Recording in-person videos that are pre-recorded and will be streamed live on Shedd’s Facebook, YouTube and Instagram
  • Monitor questions and comment section during live videos as they are being broadcast
  • Assist with crafting Instagram stories and creating Facebook events
  • Proactively engage with Shedd visitors, fans and trending topics via social channels
  • Other projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Fields of Interest: Majoring in marketing, advertising, journalism, or other communication field. Passion and interest for marketing.

Skills/Characteristics:
  • Possess excellent video recording and editing skills and attention to detail.
  • Think critically, creatively, be a self-starter, have a passion for digital engagement and possess excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to work and be productive independently.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
Technology Requirements
  • Devices that allow for video conferencing and internet access
  • Reliable internet connection
  • Optional: Video editing technology/software, phone or camera for filming, tripod
Time Commitment:
  • Approximately 24 hours per week
  • Minimum of 3 months
  • Preferred availability: Monday through Wednesday
  • Set schedule based on intern availability.
