Internship Overview: 
The digital marketing intern will gain a solid understanding of the marketing skills needed to understand and navigate website management, email marketing, paid social media campaigns and partnerships, SEO content strategy and analytics used to measure success for a non-profit organization.  
 
Learning Objectives: 

  • Learn about paid digital marketing channels and how to manage them 
    • Build 1 blog 
    • Traffic 1 round of paid social media ads 
    • Manage website tickets in JIRA 
  • Understand why marketing data is important and how to use to make decisions  
    • Utilize SEO data to update 2 website pages 
    • Build a UTM and measure success 
    • Track sales within Tessitura of a promoted campaign 
  • Gain an understanding of audiences/segmentation in relation to email marketing 
    • Go through the entire email send process from beginning/end 
    • Attend meetings with other teams (specifically Development) to see how their audiences differ from the General audience 
    • Track response from different audiences to see what topics resonate the best 

Responsibilities & Projects: 

  • Demonstrate commitment to Shedd’s vision, mission and values 
  • Assist in updating content on Shedd’s website including blogs and managing website tickets in JIRA 
  • Assist in trafficking paid social media ads with advertising agency 
  • Help optimize web pages based on SEO data 
  • Assist in building out email marketing campaigns from beginning to end 
  • Partner with staff to analyze marketing data and inform decisions 
    • May include building a UTM, tracking sales of promoted campaigns, and tracking audience responses to emails 
  • Participate in team meetings with Marketing and other departments across Shedd to learn about audience needs. 
  • Other projects as assigned

  • Ability to work and be productive independently.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED. 

Time & Compensation: 

  • This is a non-exempt, temporary position that pays $15.40 per hour
  • We anticipate this position will be scheduled for 16 hours per week for 10 weeks, pending business needs and individual performance.
  • Preferred schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays 9a-5p
  • Set schedule based on intern availability.
