Summary:
The Director of Technology and Audio Visual Support Services is responsible for planning, directing, and managing Shedd’s 1) Technology and AV Support Services program, inclusive of end user computing (purchasing and Tier 1 support), maintaining and supporting telephony, exhibit-based technologies and audio-visual systems, and providing AV event support. This role, working closely with the Vice President of Technology & Information Security, develops and manages contracts and relationships with technology vendors and external partners.

  • Demonstrate commitment to Shedd’s vision, mission and values.
  • Define and execute strategy in partnership with other Technology team leaders for employee computing needs, including hardware selection, MDM, security configuration, SSO, VPN, employee training, etc.
  • Interface with other Technology teams and outside vendors to procure, support, and maintain security devices, systems, and services.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with technology vendors and external partners
  • Manage the technical services team and oversee queue management processes.
  • Ensure team provides timely and quality Level 1 support to Shedd staff and partners.
  • Ensure team completes daily exhibit walk-throughs and resolves or escalate any issues based on findings.
  • Ensure team support AV requirements for events and programs.
  • Lead the team to monitor exhibit, AV, and end user technologies and perform both proactive and reactive maintenance, as necessary.
  • Manages longer-term financial plans for the Technology and Audio Visual Support Services team, including expense management and resource forecasting.
  • Develop and submit staffing, operations and capital budgets for the department that are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Manage approved operational and capital budgets to plan throughout the year.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education:
Any combination of education and training equivalent to a bachelor's degree which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described; advanced coursework in information security including a focus on computer technologies, business management, project management, or equivalent degree.

Experience:
5-7 years of hands on support experience contributing to and leading activities within that space.

Technical/Business Skills:
  • Demonstrated aptitude for a variety of technologies including infrastructure and network technologies, desktop environments, telephony systems, backup systems, and storage systems implemented as part of a Windows operating system environment
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to create and provide input into project and resource plans including development of work breakdown structures, detailed tasks, estimates, dependencies, and resource assignments using Microsoft Project or equivalent project management software
  • Working knowledge of packaged and custom software solutions including selection, installation, configuration, deployment, and ongoing support
  • Working knowledge of business management functions and concepts including budget creation and management encompassing resources, direct expenses, and allocated expenses
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other project management and collaboration tools
  • Strong negotiation and facilitation skills to orchestrate project meetings and establish commitments within and across departments to get direction and decisions made
